Queer Berlin + Drag

Published on Tuesday, September 13, 2022

We are looking for 5 participants living in Berlin to join a weekend workshop on queer community and drag taking place in Berlin from 30 September-2 October 2022!

What is the project about?

Do you want to learn how to do drag from an amazing drag artist? Are you interested in reflecting about the current state of the queer community? Do you want to meet other young queer people from Munich and Berlin?

Together with the queer BIPOC group Queer*Yourope from Munich, we invite you to a weekend workshop with some of the following contents:

Workshop on Homonationalism and the connections between Colonial History and Queerness Workshop on the 1990s queer community of Berlin and how it has changed since Drag workshops by Queen of Virginity: creating a drag persona, movement exercises, make-up 101 Some free-time program (still to be defined)

Where?

The project will take place at a hostel in Berlin-Tiergarten. We would ask you to sleep at home and come to the venue in the mornings. You will receive more info after being accepted to the project.

Costs?

There is no participation fee, all for free!

Who can apply?

Be queer, questioning or an ally! This project is made by queer people for queer people, those who are questioning their sexual or gender identity and strong allies of the community. With this project we want to create a safer space for all of those of us who identify with being trans, inter, non-binary, lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual and queer.

Living in Berlin and be between 18 and 27.

Be able to participate in the whole period from the evening of 30 September until the evening of 2 October 2022. It doesn’t make sense for you to come to the project late or to leave early, as you would miss important sessions.

Who are we?

Critical Queer Solidarity wants to create alternative spaces within the queer community in Berlin and create connections with other queer people around Europe and the world. From our team, Queen of Virginity and Thomas will be the ones coordinating this project.

Questions?

Feel free to write an email to Thomas at thomas@cqs.berlin
